Honourable Alan Ganoo, took office as Minister of Land Transport and Light Rail on the 12
th
November 2019 following his election as the first member for Constituency No.14, Savanne and Black River during the 2019 General Elections. In his capacity as Minister of Land Transport and Light Rail, Honourable Ganoo is spearheading the second phase of the Metro Express project which is one of the largest and most innovative infrastructure projects ever undertaken in Mauritius.
He has also set the path to modernise Land Transport through several state-of-the-art projects which will be deployed as part of the Government Programme over the next few years. Honourable Ganoo also has at heart issues related to the environment and climate change which he intends to address as part of a holistic, green and safe transportation system.

Ganoo has assumed the office of Minister in the following ministries:
Minister of Justice and Attorney-General from 1991 to 1993
Minister of Housing from 1996 to 1997
Minister of Public Utilities from 2000 to 2005
Acting Minister of Fisheries as from 2004 to 2005
He has also served in the following positions:
Speaker of the National Assembly in 1982
Opposition Whip from 1987 to 1990
Deputy Chief Whip in 1990
Leader of the Opposition in 2013
Between 2012 and 2015 Honourable Alan Ganoo has been called upon to chair or be a member of the following committees:
Member of Committee of Selection
Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee
Member of the Standing Orders Committee
Member of the Select Committee on Live Broadcasting of House Proceedings
Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee in 2015
In May 2015 Honourable Ganoo left the MMM where he was Deputy Leader to take the leadership of the Mouvement Patriotique which joined the Alliance Morisien in October 2019 and won the General Elections as first member for constituency no. 14. Honourable Ganoo has previously been elected nine times in the same constituency namely in 1982, 1987, 1991, 1995, 2000, 2005, 2010, 2014 and 2019
.
Honourable Alan Ganoo studied Law at Middle Temple and at King's College, London and has practiced as a barrister since 1975. He believes that spirituality is an integral part of an individual's life with universal principles of love and justice for all as a solid base to serve humanity.
